Cash for a Worry-Free Recovery
As an employee of [Portal:Description], you can feel confident that you will have money coming in even if you're disabled for a prolonged period. Thanks to [Portal:Description]'s partnership with Marsh Global Consumer, employees under age 70 who meet the eligibility requirements are now entitled to enroll in the Group Disability Income Insurance Plan. This coverage guarantees reliable income if you become disabled and are unable to work.
With the Group Disability Plan, you can:
- Get cash benefits up to $6,000 each month you are disabled.
- Use the money for whatever you need-including business expenses.
- Enjoy group rates-meaning you usually save over individual coverage.
- Start receiving benefits in as little as 25days from the time you are disabled.
How Much Does It Cost?
Your contributions to this plan are based on your age, the waiting period you specify, and the monthly benefit you select, up to $6,500 or 60 percent of your gross monthly earned income as defined by the plan administrator, whichever is greater. Based on your selections, this valuable security could cost you less than $1.10 a month.
How the plan works
After you have been Totally Disabled for six consecutive months and are unable to work due to a covered injury or illness, the Group Disability Income Insurance Plan benefits will be PAID DIRECTLY TO YOU. And your benefits will be PAID IN ADDITION to your major medical coverage or any other benefits you are entitled to. There are NO RESTRICTIONS on how you use your benefit checks.
Flexible Waiting Period
Unlike some plans that may make you wait as long as 365 days before benefits are paid, the Group Disability Income Insurance Plan offers you a choice of four waiting periods to suit your unique needs: 30, 90, 180 or 365 days. Your waiting period is the number of consecutive days you must be Totally Disabled before benefits commence. A longer waiting period is less expensive, so when choosing, pick one that best fits your budget.
Five-Year Plan
Benefits are payable for up to five years for Total Disabilities starting before age 60. For Total Disabilities starting at age 60 through 62, benefits may continue up to age 65. For Total Disabilities starting at age 63 through 74, benefits may continue for up to two years. If you are Totally Disabled before age 63, benefits are payable up to age 65. There is a two-year maximum benefit for Total Disabilities starting at age 63 through 74.
